Fleet

Helios as continuous high-thrust propulsion system would provide a far-reaching spiral-shaped trajectory as very efficient maneuver path also for spacecrafts and platforms with high inertial mass; this behavior is realizing a new efficient kind of orbital maneuvering. Especially is this far-reaching spiral a very effective orbit- change trajectory.

Basing on this propulsive behavior a fleet of highly specialized application vehicles equipped with Helios as propulsion system is in planning.

Each vehicle incorporates our Helios propulsion technology, offering unprecedented efficiency and operational flexibility for a new era of space transportation.

Humboldt

Alexander von Humboldt, lived between 1769 and 1859, is definitely an iconic character and a role model also in our present times. First of all, he was a more than passionate researcher and explorer. From the days of his childhood, he dedicated his life to discover and understand the nature. One can say that he was a fanatic of science. There was never even a hint of consideration for his own welfare or health. Only a strict dedication to science. His whole live was focused on discovering and understanding. But he was much more… He was founder of sustainability. He discovered that all is connected with everything in nature; one cannot influence a small part without disturbing the whole nature. So, he was one of the first fighters for a sustainable dealing with natural resources. And he was a humanist. In his opinion, every human creature has to be free from suppression to unfold its own unique personality. Hence he became also a militant fighter against slavery.

And for me most important; he was just interested in everything…from the stars out there in the universe down to minerals and the smallest insect. My livelong his character was impressing me. And to name our interplanetary transportation vehicle Humboldt is just a small bow for such a great human.

Humboldt is a concept of an interplanetary transportation vehicle, which is transferring between an Earth orbit and a planetary orbit on a far-reaching spiral-shaped trajectory.

Diver

Diver is a concept of a self-refilling fuel depot. Equipped with Helios propulsion devices, Diver will be able to lower its trajectory into very low Earth orbits. Once arrived in those orbits with residual atmosphere presence, Diver will use an intake to compress ambient air within his tank. Subsequent Diver is able to reach for other ISTVs with air-consuming propulsion devices, docking them and refill their fuel tanks.

Cleaner

The mission goal of Cleaner is to react on identified space debris. Cleaner would stand by on a park orbit.

Cleaner is designed to deflect larger debris pieces out of their orbit. Cleaner will dock on the debris, lower the velocity with its Helios propulsion system, release the debris at a defined velocity for re-entry and burn out. Subsequently, cleaner will transfer again into its park orbit using its Helios propulsion system.

Striker

The mission goal of striker is planetary defense. Striker is a heavy platform with loading capabilities. It could transport huge payloads of explosives efficiently to an asteroid, when detonation is the measure of choice for defense. In case deflection by thrust is the measure; the Helios-driven striker is even more suitable for this task. Here, striker will accelerate towards the threatening asteroid and hit him with maximum speed, in order to transfer defined impulse on the asteroid for the purpose of deflection. Subsequently, a harpoon system will connect striker with the asteroid and the Helios thrusters with the residual present fuel will accomplish the deflection of the asteroid.

Cloud

Cloud is the only fleet member, which is designed for air traveling and not for acting in space. Cloud is a lighter-than-Air platform that is attitude-controlled be a Helium filling. For forward and lateral propulsion, cloud is equipped with Air breathing and consuming Helios AIRE thrusters.
